Jungle Bird
Now here’s a cocktail that strikes a perfect balance between bitter, boozy, and sweet. This is one of our all-time favorite Tiki cocktails because it isn’t overly sweet and the addition of Campari gives it a great bitter note. It’s also one of the easier Tiki cocktails to whip up because it’s only five ingredients. It’s thought that the Jungle Bird was created at the Hilton hotel in Kuala Lumpur in the late 1970s and we think that’s kind of where it transports you — somewhere near the Equator, escaping the heat under a shade tree with a nice breeze. 🌴
JUNGLE BIRD
1.5 oz Jamaican or Aged Rum
.75 oz Campari
1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
.5 oz Fresh Lime
.5 oz Simple Syrup
DIRECTIONS: Shake all ingredients with ice until well-chilled, strain over fresh ice into a tiki mug or Collins glass. Garnish with Pineapple leaves and lime wheel.
PRO TIP: Go crazy with your garnish, tiki cocktails are meant to be over the top, so add whatever you’d like! Mint, pineapple wedge, edible flowers, whatever!
