A modern classic made famous by Audrey Saunders, the Old Cuban is everything great about a mojito with a touch of elegance and depth. This is a real crowd pleaser and perfect for a celebratory event or to just bring some happiness to any day of the week.
OLD CUBAN
1.5 oz Aged Rum
3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1 oz Simple Syrup
6 Large Fresh Mint Leaves
2 dash Angostura Bitters
2 oz sparkling wine (brut Cava works great)
DIRECTIONS:
Add all ingredients to a shaker (except sparkling wine).
Add ice and shake very hard for about 10 seconds until well chilled.
Double strain into cocktail coupe.
This ensures all the mint bits don't get in your teeth.
Top with sparkling wine (brut cava or champagne if your ballin’ out)
Garnish with a lime wheel and mint bouquet.
