Tipsy Gardener

A refreshing gin cocktail with a burst of bright herbaceousness!

Alright guys, I think we figured out something real special. We recently planted several fresh herbs on the breezeway outside our apartment. We've been yearning to get into gardening so we thought, hey, let's utilize this super underutilized space, plant herbs along the side of the railing, and hope that our HOA doesn't get mad.

We planted Pineapple Sage, Cilantro, Mint, Tarragon, and French Lavender for starters. Then the creative juices started flowing...we've made mint syrups, we've made cilantro syrups, what if we made a GARDEN SYRUP with a whole combo!

For this iteration we went with Mint, Pineapple Sage and a touch of Cilantro. Click here to see how we did it.  Using this syrup, we thought gin was the obvious choice for a spring cocktail. Throw in a bit of fresh lemon for some brightness and some fizz on top and voila! This cocktail is great because you can try all types of Garden Syrups with various herbs and come up with many different results.

TIPSY GARDENER

  • 2 oz Gin (We used Seersucker Gin which is a fantastic big bang for your buck gin from San Antonio, TX)

  • .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • .5 oz Garden Syrup

  • Top w/ Sparkling Water

DIRECTIONS:

  • Add gin, lemon and garden syrup to a shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled (about 10 seconds).

  • Strain into collins glass over fresh ice (tall skinny glass).

  • Top with sparkling water and garnish with a sprig of your favorite herb. We used pineapple sage in this iteration because after giving it a nice #herbspank, it gives off the most amazing aroma of fresh pineapple.
