Wild West Old Fashioned
My dad Ron loved the Wild West -- Cowboys, Indians, six-shooters, the stories and the spirit of it all. He also loved his whiskey.
So here, I present the Wild West Old Fashioned.
I used sage in this cocktail because it’s a common western shrub and is important in Native American culture. We’ve also got some great tobacco bitters, a special blend from our friend Sailor Retro and Skidmore Alchemy in Washington. All those years of dad smoking a pipe left an impression on me and all my buddies who came over to hang out. We loved the smell. This bitters felt perfect for this cocktail. I’ve also incorporated a Dewar's scotch spray over the top because not only does it lend a nice aroma, it was Dad’s go-to drink. Cheers, Dad. This one's for you. We love you. - Cody
